Since childhood, my life has been shaped by art. As a child I received piano lessons, I sang in a children’s choir and I painted. My painting style was pretty cubistic when I was young, but now it’s more realistic with an eye for detail. Popular topics are the Wadden Sea, still life, portraits, flowers and animals. Although I like to choose the Wadden Sea as a subject for my work, I also like to paint other motifs. For some time now I make installations: painted poles in oil on canvas with poles found on the mud flats. The Wadden Sea as one of the largest natural areas in Europe inspires me again and again. Under the influence of the tides, this unusual landscape has developed into a habitat that is always changing and fascinating. For my merits in music, I was awarded the title “Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau” in name of Queen Beatrix. Gradually I am invited more and more as a painter to exhibitions in the Netherlands, France and Germany.
